Medeama SC coach Ibrahim Tanko has emphasised the championship mentality required for title contention after his team's hard-fought 2-1 victory over Nations FC in the Ghana Premier League.
Following their third win in four league matches, which propelled them to second place in the standings with nine points, Tanko highlighted the significance of grinding out results in challenging encounters.
"It was a really tough game," Tanko stated in his post-match press conference. "The first 30 minutes was really good from us, we created chances, we scored one. I think we should have been two or three [goals] up."
The Medeama boss made it clear that such determined performances are essential for any team with serious title ambitions, firmly asserting: "This is the kind of game you have to win if you have to fight for the league."
The victory marks an impressive start for the Tarkwa-based club as they aim to reclaim the league title they last won two seasons ago, having finished eighth in the subsequent two campaigns.
