Ghana Football Association Communications Director Henry Asante Twum has dismissed ongoing debates about Otto Addo’s future, stressing that the focus must remain on qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Black Stars head coach Otto Addo recently named a 24-man squad for Ghana’s final two qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros, but his long-term prospects have been questioned in the wake of September’s disappointing draw against Chad and the AFCON failure.
Sports Minister Kofi Adams has also publicly expressed concerns.
Twum, however, insists qualification takes precedence over speculation about the head coach’s position.
“At this point, the sole objective of the FA and the ministry is to ensure that Ghana qualifies for yet another FIFA World Cup. It will be great in our history to make it to the USA, Mexico and Canada,” he said in an interview with Woezor TV.
He continued: “So, issues about the future of the coach for me at this point are immaterial.
"The most important thing is for us to go into the game against the Central African Republic, win and seal our qualification, come back to Ghana and beat Comoros, to put a smile on the faces of Ghanaians after that.
"If there is any need whatsoever to think about the future of the coach, I'm sure the authorities will deal with that.”
Ghana, top of Group I with 19 points, need four more points from their remaining two fixtures to book a fifth World Cup appearance.
