Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito attributed his team's 5-3 aggregate triumph over Kwara United in the CAF Confederation Cup to tactical adjustments made after the first leg.
Despite a thrilling 4-3 win in Accra, Kotoko knew they couldn't afford to repeat their mistakes.
"We revisited the first leg and saw the space and time we gave them," Zito explained. "We worked on that and knew we had to deny them space and time to play us." This approach paid off, with Kotoko securing a 1-0 win at the M.K.O. Abiola International Stadium.
Zito praised his team's discipline, saying, "We didn't repeat the occupational hazard we had in Ghana."
The win sets Kotoko up for a challenging encounter against Moroccan giants Wydad in the second round.
With a keen eye on improvement, Zito's team looks to build on this momentum as they take on tougher opponents in the competition.
