Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has explained his game plan after qualifying for the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The FA Cup champions booked a place in the second round of the preliminary round of games with a 5-3 aggregate scoreline against Kwara United.
Kotoko secured a first-leg 4-3 win at the Accra Sports Stadium last week before recording a hard-fought 1-0 win in the second leg in Abeokuta at the M.K.O. Abiola International Stadium on Sunday.
Speaking to the media after the game, Zito revealed that Kotoko had learned valuable lessons from the first leg.
"A lot changed because in our football industry we have occupational hazards and that is what happened to us in Ghana, Zito said.
"We didn’t repeat it here; we revisited the first leg, and we saw the space and time we gave them, and we worked on that.
“We knew they had experienced players. We knew when we denied them the space and time, they couldn’t play us. So, we must do that and search for the goal in the second half," the veteran gaffer added.
The Porcupine Warriors will now turn their attention to a tough second-round encounter against Moroccan heavyweights Wydad in October.
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko will now shift their attention to the Ghana Premier League, where they will take on Heart of Lions in the Matchday 4 games at the Baba Yara Stadium.
