
Kwara United coach Sanni Tunde was left to rue missed chances in his sides defeat to Asante Kotoko in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors succumbed to a narrow defeat in the return clash of the first preliminary round clash, held at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena on Sunday, undermining qualification to the next round.
Kotoko booked their place in the next round of the competition after inflicting a narrow win over Kwara United in Abeokuta on Sunday.
The Porcupine Warriors went into the return clash with a slender advantage, having inflicted a 4-3 win in the first leg clash held at the Accra Sports Stadium.
With a disciplined and measured performance in Nigeria, the Ghanaian giants managed to secure qualification to the next round over Kwara United.
Forward Hubert Gyau struck the decisive goal to seal a 5-3 aggregate win for the Ghanaians, setting up a mouth-watering clash against Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca in the next round.
“I’m highly disappointed in the players. We created a lot of scoring opportunities and squandered them. We scored three goals in Ghana and couldn’t convert even one chance here. It was a sorry situation” he said after the game.
Having edged out Kwara United, the Porcupine Warriors will lock horns with Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca in the second round of the preliminary round.
