Asante Kotoko legend and former Black Stars defender, Gariba Ibrahim, insists season trainer Pep Guardiola cannot even steer Bibiani Goldstars to secure qualification to the next round of the CAF Champions League after falling short in the first-leg preliminary round against JS Kabylie.
The Miners faces a daunting task in Algeria after succumbing to a 2-0 defeat at the Accra Sports Stadium last Saturday.
Despite the setback, the Ghanaian champions are seeking to overturn the scoreline in the return leg clash in Algeria to progress to the next stage of the preliminary round.
However, the former Ghana international has ruled out Bibiani Goldstars qualification, saying Pep Guardiola cannot even guide the club to edge out JS Kabylie.
“Bibiani Goldstars African campaign is over. Even Pep Guardiola cannot steer Goldstars to qualification. They are already down and want to go and beat them in the return leg, no magic. The best option left for Goldstars now is to defend and maybe return home with a draw” he told Kessben FM in an interview.
The Ghanaian champions has already departed Ghana for Algeria and are expected to train at the match venue on Saturday before the highly competitive clash on Sunday.
Goldstars are currently without a substantive coach following the sacking of Frimpong Maxwell, with Nana Amankwah set to lead the team in Algeria.
