Ransford Yeboah Königsdörffer may not have found the net yet this Bundesliga season, but his coach Merlin Polzin believes his moment is coming.
The Ghanaian winger has led Hamburg’s attack in all four league games so far, and despite the wait for a first goal or assist, his influence has been described as vital.
Königsdörffer’s role as HSV’s number one striker has been a consistent feature of Polzin’s lineups. While fans often look for goals, the coach stressed that his contributions run much deeper.
"Of course, as an attacking player it's always about creating a goal-scoring opportunity," Polzin said on Friday, adding that it can also be done by "initiating" situations. He praised the 24-year-old’s ability to vary his play, find space, and unsettle defenders.
Polzin also highlighted how the striker’s pace, depth, and connection with teammates bring a dangerous edge to Hamburg’s forward play.
HSV remains confident. For them, Königsdörffer is no longer just a young prospect but an essential part of their attack, and his first Bundesliga goal feels like a matter of time.
