Ghana’s domestic aviation market, and by extension , domestic tourism, is set for a major boost as Century Aviation prepares to launch scheduled passenger services to the Ho Airport in the Volta Region using a brand-new 19-seater Cessna SkyCourier.
Describing the aircraft as a “game-changer” for domestic tourism, highlighting its ability to land almost anywhere, drastically cutting travel times to destinations like Mole National Park, Nkroful, and Aflao, will open up these areas for tourism, attracting many visitors and potential sector investors, noted Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, when she joined Century Aviation Ltd and Textron Aviation for a demonstration of the aircraft earlier this week.
The excited Minister reaffirmed her Ministry’s commitment to boosting connectivity, supporting the 24-hour economy agenda, and partnering with the private sector to open new tourism corridors across the country.
The demonstration was spearheaded by a high-level delegation including Robert Prentice, Vice President of Africair, Inc. (Miami, FL, USA), David De Cock, Regional Sales Director for Textron Aviation, and Mrs. Essie Anno Sackey, Director of Century Aviation Ltd.
The aircraft, manufactured by Cessna and marketed in Ghana by Textron Aviation, was displayed at the 3AMS-CELMS’ Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility at the Air Force base next to the Kotoka International Airport before completing a successful demonstration flight from Accra to Ho Airport.
The showcase highlighted the SkyCourier’s agility, stability, and high-performance features, underscoring its potential to open up new regional routes and enhance connectivity within Ghana. With its twin-engine configuration, spacious cabin, and ability to operate on shorter runways, the aircraft is well-suited for domestic operations such as the Accra–Ho route, where demand is expected to grow steadily.
