Asante Kotoko coach Karim Zito is bracing for a difficult start to the new Ghana Premier League season but believes his team has what it takes to come out on top.
Kotoko open their 2025/26 campaign on Saturday against Berekum Chelsea, a side that has always given them trouble. Zito admitted that history is not on their side, but he remains confident.
"Kotoko has never had a soft game when I was playing anytime we meet Kotoko you see us matching them in everything we can do to beat them. So I told my boys the way you prepare against Kotoko when you were not in Kotoko like the same thing others clubs will prepare against you," he told AKSC Media.
"To me not only Berekum Chelsea the game is very difficult moreover according to history Kotoko doesn't have it easy over there but there is always a day in your life that can change issues. We still have our confidence and hope that we can do it,"
Kickoff is set for Saturday, with Kotoko determined to begin strongly despite the challenge.
