Asante Kotoko have confirmed that their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round first-leg clash against Kwara United will be staged at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Porcupine Warriors, winners of last season’s MTN FA Cup, are returning to the competition for the first time since 2022.
The Kumasi-based giants will face Nigeria’s Kwara United on September 21 in Accra after the Baba Yara Sports Stadium failed to meet the Confederation of African Football’s accreditation requirements.
Kick-off has been scheduled for 3:00 p.m., with the return fixture set for Nigeria between September 26 and 28.
Kotoko announced on their official channels: “We play in Accra against Kwara of Nigeria. ð CAF Confederation Cup ð Kwara United ðï¸ 21/9/2025 Kick Off || 3:00 PM.”
Kwara United head into the tie buoyed by their recent President’s Federation Cup success, which they clinched following a penalty shootout victory over Abakaliki FC.
The Nigerian side will be making their debut in the CAF Confederation Cup, adding extra intrigue to the fixture.
Should Kotoko advance, they will meet Moroccan heavyweights Wydad Casablanca in the second preliminary round. Wydad, one of Africa’s most decorated clubs, will enter the competition at that stage.
The first leg is scheduled for October 17â19, with the return leg to follow between October 24 and 26.
