England-born midfielder of Ghanaian descent, Kobbie Mainoo, is reportedly poised to leave Manchester United this summer.
Sources in the last 12 hours have indicated that the youngster believes going on loan will serve him well.
This comes after Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim publicly disclosed that Kobbie Mainoo is competing for a position in the team with captain Bruno Fernandes.
Although the youngster is regarded highly at the club, it is almost impossible to bench his Portuguese teammate, who is arguably the team’s best player.
Although Mainoo loves Manchester United and wants to stay for a long time, he believes he is at a stage in his career where he needs to play regularly to continue his development.
He also wants to hit top form to be in the good books of England manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
As a result, although the initial request for a loan move was rejected by Manchester United, Kobbie Mainoo is understood to be keen on a move before the summer transfer window shuts.
This summer's transfer window for Premier League and EFL clubs will close four hours earlier than usual at 7 pm on Monday, September 1.
Fans are watching to see whether Mainoo can have his wish before that time.
