Ghana international Terry Yegbe has officially completed a move to French Ligue 1 side FC Metz, signing a four-year contract that will keep him at the club until June 2029.
The 24-year-old central defender arrives from Swedish top-flight outfit IF Elfsborg, where he quickly established himself as a key player after joining in February 2024.
Standing at 1.95m, Yegbe brings height, strength, and composure to Metz’s backline as the club seeks to reinforce its defence in their battle for survival in Ligue 1.
Born and trained in Ghana with Vision FC, Yegbe began his European career in 2022 with a loan move to Finnish side SJK Seinajoki.
His commanding performances earned him a switch to Sweden, where he blossomed into one of the Allsvenskan’s most reliable defenders.
In two seasons with Elfsborg, he featured in 40 matches, scoring four goals and impressing with his aerial ability and ball distribution.
He also gained invaluable European experience, playing in the UEFA Europa League against top sides such as Tottenham Hotspur, Galatasaray, and Athletic Bilbao.
Notably, he was part of Elfsborg’s famous 1-0 victory over AS Roma. His rise in Sweden earned him a debut with the Ghana national team in November 2024.
Speaking after sealing the deal, Yegbe expressed his excitement: “I’m very happy to be here, I can’t wait to play and meet the whole team. I would like to thank my agents, all the people who support me, and of course FC Metz for their trust.”
The Ghanaian defender will wear the number 15 shirt for Metz as he begins the next chapter of his career in France.
