In one month, 24 nations will meet in Chile to battle it out for FIFA U-20 World Cup⢠glory in the competition’s 24th edition.
Since the inaugural event in Tunisia in 1977, some of the best players the sport has to offer have passed through the tournament’s gates.
Diego Maradona dazzled in Japan two years later and paved the way for Lionel Messi, Thierry Henry, Roberto Carlos, Luis Figo, Ronaldinho, Andres Iniesta, Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann, Kaka and more to kick-start their careers on the world stage.
Africa will be represented by Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria and South Africa at the championship scheduled from 27 September to 19 October in Chilean cities of Santiago, Rancagua, Valparaiso and Talca.
Ghana’s historic triumph in 2009 remains the only title by an African team in the history of the tournament since its inception in 1977.
