"We wonâ??t play until our demands are met" - Kotoko threaten Ghana Premier League boycott
Asante Kotoko's Interim Management Committee (IMC) Chairman, Nana Apinkra, has issued a firm warning to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), declaring that the club will not resume football activities until their demands are fully addressed.Speaking during a meeting between Kotoko and the GFA in Kumasi, the first since the tragic murder of a supporter, Nana Pooley, Apinkra emphasised the need for reforms before the club returns to the pitch.Kotoko, along with Hearts of Oak, has submitted a list of proposals to the GFA, including the establishment of an autonomous league body, enhanced security measures, automatic representation on the GFA Executive Council, and a fair share of TV rights. As for the GFA, we already know you take us for granted, but from now on, whether you like it or not, you will respect us. Kotoko and Hearts cannot be ignored. All we are asking for are better security measures, Nana Apinkra stated. He stressed that Kotoko is not against playing but insists they will only return when their concerns are met.Even today, if you respond to our proposals, we will play. But until then, count us out because we cannot sit back and watch another life lost, he added.Meanwhile, the GFA has met with representatives from all 18 Premier League clubs to address security concerns, with discussions ongoing to ensure a safe return to football.
