Trading on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) ended in the positive in the week ending April 7, as investors, confidence in some banking stocks, revived their appetite for the equity. As a result, the GSE Composite Index improved by 1.79 per cent to settle at 1,898.34 points. This represented a year-to-date gain of 12.39 per cent.
The head pastor and founder of Blessing of Christ Ministry at Gyasikrom near Enchi in the Western Region, Isaac Twumasi and seven other suspected armed robbers have been arrested by the police. The gang of robbers who had laid ambush mistook a police night patrol vehicle for that of some Chinese gold miners, who were supposed to be conveying money on the route.

The government has reduced the retail price of fertiliser from GH¢85 to GH¢54 to boost crop production in the country, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, has said. The thirteen members of the Delta Force vigilante group aligned to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) who escaped from the Circuit Court in Kumasi last Thursday have been fined a total of Gh¢31,200. The 13 who pleaded guilty to the offence of escaping from lawful custody was fined Gh¢2,400 each by the Kumasi Circuit Court (4) when they were arraigned on Tuesday morning, reports Graphic Online’s Donald Ato Dapatem from Kumasi.

A wood processing factory at Akyem Manso near Oda in the Eastern Region, A.K. Ghana Wood, is accusing the management of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) at Oda of contributing to the destruction of five large motors belonging to it. The police administration has charged five inmates who were on detention at the Half Assini District Police station for beating a fellow inmate to death.
