By Kwesi BISSUE
To the health of the wise
Good cheer
Good health all year
The secret to living long
The secret to staying young
…not dying young
Is now an open secret
Wide open
….can’t be hidden
The choice to live long
To stay young
Or die young
Is a choice by the wise
For the wise
To the wise
Good cheer
Good health all year
You can go to bed early
And rise early
You can go to bed late
And rise late
No matter what you do
Your sleep must benefit you
Your sleep must rest you
The advice to the wise
From the doctor, so medically wise
Is to last eight hours or so…in sleep
Is to spend your night in sleep
Your doctor whispers
And says
Sleep which is indeed deep
Surely long your health it will keep
After that heavy downpour of supper
Don not hurry into your chamber
Do not slip into your bed soon after
Wait till digestion begins to occur
Lest potbelly comes early…to rally willing ailments
And diabetes of a type follows days after
Rise early to do that exercise
To burn those calories
Exercise must be for all the time
Not only when you like
Jump up and up
Jump down and down
Walk around your lawns
Move forward and backwards
As you walk in the park
Then you strengthen your back
Then you kick-start your heart
Then you give your life a hearty spark
Smile all the time
Not just for a while
Smile all the while
You will find it worthwhile
Smile as you walk the mile
Smile as you even cross the Nile
Smile as you carry that heavy pile of life
Smile in style
Smile as you traverse the Isles of humanity
Water is life
As given by the Creator of life
Water is life
Drink water enough for abundance of life
Drink water in the morn
And repeat as you move on
Drink as the day wears on
Drink water before your meal
Do not drink betwixt your meal
Do not drink immediately after your meal
Drink if you want to heal dehydration
Drink if you must not fall ill
In the beginning was the fruit
And the fruit was from the beginning
The fruit was at mankind’s root
In the Garden full of fruits
Of a truth
Smoothies is smooth and fruity
Very healthy
Any fruit a day
Fruitfully keeps the doctor away
Sugar is not in polished sugar
Sugar is in natural sugar
Sugar is not in coloured water
Sugar is in the tubers
Natural sugar
Sugar that is coated on food
Sugar that is loaded into food
Is not good for food
Suffer your body not with artificial sugar
What if you don’t sleep deep
What if you don’t drink clear water
But you gulp gallons
of coloured water
What if you hate smoothies
But you love the cookies
But you chase the junk
What if you don’t smile
For a long while
What if you don’t do fruitful exercise
And the like
What if you die young
What if we stay young
And we live long
We will sing but a song
Just a song
Just to celebrate you
…for dying young
A life not well-lived
So die and let’s eat
