PwC Ghana has extended support to two children’s homes in Accra — Chosen Children’s Home in Darkuman and NewLife Children’s Home in Nungua.
The gesture, under an inaugural staff-led initiative, ‘Season of Smiles,’ was launched to spread warmth and joy during the holiday season while promoting sustainability.
The programme also aimed to educate children about their role in achieving Goal 13: Climate Action of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Hayfron Aboagye, PwC Ghana’s Human Capital Leader, said the initiative reflects the company’s dedication to supporting vulnerable children and creating a positive impact within the community.
“The PwC Season of Smiles embodies the holiday season’s essence of spreading joy, making an impact and creating lasting memories. It is incredible to see our staff come together to support these amazing children while championing sustainability in such meaningful ways,” he said.
He highlighted PwC Ghana’s unwavering commitment to making greater societal impact. Through the donation, PwC Ghana reinforced its dedication to uplifting communities while contributing to a greener, more inclusive future.
The staff and children bonded over dancing, games and a festive feast, while sustainability took centre stage during a creative workshop where children crafted various artworks from recyclable materials to raise environmental awareness. Additionally, participants aged 18 and above engaged in discussions focused on choosing the right career paths.
The donation drive aimed to provide essential resources to children in need, encourage environmental consciousness, and foster a spirit of community among PwC staff and beneficiaries.
The initiative supported two homes: NewLife Children’s Home, which shelters 92 children aged 4 months to 24 years and provides care for those facing abandonment, abuse, or disabilities, and Chosen Children’s Home, which offers a safe haven to 60 children rescued from addiction and neglect.
Items donated included food stuffs, bags of cement, sand and stones, iron rods, educational materials, a cheque of GH?10,000 and other necessities aimed at improving the living conditions of the children.
“We believe in the potential of these young ones to become future leaders. Supporting them is not just an act of charity but an investment in the future. We hope this gesture inspires them to dream big and achieve their ambitions,” Mr. Aboagye noted.
He also encouraged other corporate organizations to step forward and contribute to the well-being of children in similar circumstances.
The founder of NewLife Children’s Home, Nii Afotey Botwe II, commended the PwC team for their kind gesture and ongoing support. He stressed the importance of giving to support meaningful initiatives that can create lasting positive impacts.
He noted that some of the children have been able to complete university, as well as nursing and teaching colleges, thanks to the support of organisations and individuals who continue to offer assistance.
The founder also highlighted the aspirations of some of the children to become future leaders in the country. He shared his plans to construct an additional building to create more space for the children and called on corporate Ghana to continue supporting the home.
He expressed gratitude to the PwC team and assured them that all donated items would be put to good use for the benefit of the children.
