
The Ghana Police Service has launched an intensive manhunt to apprehend armed robbers who fatally shot two police officers on Saturday, April 13, 2025, at Poyamire, a community located on the outskirts of Binduri in the Upper East Region.
According to a press release issued by the Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, the officers—who were in plain clothes—were traveling on a private motorbike from Bongo to Binduri when they were ambushed by assailants.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the attackers shot the officers and made away with their motorbike.
The names of the deceased officers have not yet been disclosed. Police officials stated that this measure is in line with ongoing efforts to properly inform the victims’ families in accordance with local customs and traditions.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police and Director of Public Affairs, Grace Ansah-Akrofi, conveyed the Police Administration’s deepest condolences to the bereaved families, the Commander, and all officers and men in the Upper East Region.
“Our hearts and prayers are with you,” she added.
Authorities have assured the general public that every effort is being made to track down and bring the perpetrators of what has been described as a heinous crime to justice. The police expressed their unwavering commitment to ensuring that the offenders are apprehended.
The public is urged to remain calm and assist with any information that could aid the ongoing investigation.
