Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has announced his decision to leave the club after 10 seasons.
De Bruyne joined City from Wolfsburg in 2015 for a reported €76 million deal.
The 33-year-old has been City’s creator-in-chief in the last decade, pulling the strings for the Cityzens in the Premier League and Champions League.
In a social media post, De Bruyne began by saying: “Dear Manchester, these will be my final months as a Manchester City player. Nothing about this is easy to write, but as football players, we all know this day eventually comes. That day is here – and you deserve to hear it from me first,” he wrote.
“This city. This club. These people gave me everything. I had no choice but to give everything back! And guess what – we won everything. Whether we like it or not, it’s time to say goodbye. Every story comes to an end but this has definitely been the best chapter. Let’s enjoy these last moments together,” he added.
De Bruyne enjoyed a trophy-laden career in the blue half of Manchester, clinching top honours, including 1 Uefa Champions League, 6 Premier Leagues, 2 FA Cups, 5 League Cups, 2 Community Shields.
The midfielder has scored 70 goals and provided 118 assists in the Premier League.
His incredible eye for a pass sees him only second to Ryan Giggs on the all-time Premier League assists charts.
Additionally, since his debut in 2015, De Bruyne ranks first in chances created (827), big chances created (193) and most assists (117) in the league.
