Feyenoord were taken no prisoners on Wednesday night in their Eredivisie tie against Groningen as they continue to push for a Champions League spot.
The hosts mauled the visitors 4-1 in front of a raucous De Kuip, dominating and controlling the game from the off.
Anis Hadj Moussa made the early dominace pay when he tucked home for Feyenoord’s first before Igor Paixao added a second after 33 minutes.
Feyenoord’s perfect start was flawed when Jorg Schreduders halved the deficit for the visitors before the break.
Although forward Carranza thought he had restored Feyenoord’s two-goal advantage before the interval, his goal was ruled out for offside by the video assistant referees (VAR).
After probing all game, Paixao got a well-deserved brace eight minutes from time with a well-taken strike.
Ibrahim Osman got in on the act at the death to give the home side a buffer, putting the result beyond Groningen’s reach.
The Ghanaian ran onto a Gij Smal ball at the edge of the box before wrapping his foot around it to find the bottom left corner for his third league goal of the season.
The goal brought an end to Osman’s dry spell infront of goal.
Osman had not scored in nine games, dating back to Feyenoord’s 4-1 win over Rijnsburgse on January 15.
The Brighton loanee, who has now scored all three of his goals after the 80th minute, has put up decent showings in his time away from the English club.
Osman will be hoping to have done just about enough to be a mainstay at Brighton next season.
