Former Communications Specialist at the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation, Sandra Frimpong (Maame Broni) has opened up on how her appointment at the Ministry was terminated without prior notice.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, Maame Broni disclosed that she discovered the termination of her appointment on social media on February 15, 2025.
At the time her appointment was terminated, she was a Communications Specialist for a World Bank project at the Ministry of Communications.
She expressed shock at the manner in which her appointment was terminated since no information was conveyed to her through any official or direct channel.
“Nevertheless, I proceeded to the office on Monday, February 17th, to formally receive the termination letter,” she said.
According to Maame Broni, over 90% of the consultants engaged in same project faced the same fate – their appointments had been terminated with immediate effect.
“To my dismay, over 90% of the consultants engaged in the project faced the same fate; their appointments were terminated with immediate effect, in disregard for the terms stipulated in our contracts,” she added.
However, the Communications Ministry between January to March 2025 has advertised various positions including Project Coordinator, Communications Specialist, Digital Applications Specialist, Technical/ Policy Advisor, Procurement Specialist etc for a Ghana Digital Acceleration Project due to commence in May 2025.
The project is being financed by the World Bank.
Government has in the past days terminated appointment of some persons which the government claims were made after December 7, 2024.
The move is in line with government’s plan to cut expenditure while arguing that these appointments did not follow due process.
