President Mahama assents to bills abolishing E levy, betting tax, and emissions tax

President John Dramani Mahama has officially abolished several taxes, including the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy), Betting Tax, and Emissions Tax, by signing new legislative bills into law.
The move fulfills a major campaign promise made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2024 elections.
At a ceremony held at the seat of government on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, President Mahama emphasized his administration’s commitment to reducing the financial burden on Ghanaians.
