The Naa Sidik Bomi Park in the Wa Metropolis of the Upper West Region, in the early hours of Monday, March 31, 2025, became the centre of attraction, hope, and spiritual solidarity as both young and elderly converge to mark the end of Ramadan.
Aside from this, it was also a historic scene as the Catholic Bishop of Wa, Most Reverend Francis Bomansaan, joined the Muslim Community to observe the day.
Addressing the congregation ahead of the prayers, the Christian-Muslim Dialogue Coordinator, Father Aloysius Nuolabong, who delivered a speech on behalf of the Bishop, acknowledged the proximity of Ramadan with the Christian season of Lent, highlighting the unique opportunity for Christians and Muslims to come together in a spirit of purification, prayer, and charity.
The Bishop emphasized the importance of interfaith dialogue and cooperation, citing his recent visits to Islamic communities in the region.

“After my Episcopal Ordination in August 2024, I had the pleasure to visit the Islamic communities in the Wa Metropolitan town and some of the towns in the Upper West region”.
Bishop Bomansaan appealed to Islamic and Christian charity agencies and NGOs to support widows, single mothers, and vulnerable youth with micro-financing initiatives and vocational training opportunities.
He praised the Upper West Regional Chief Imam’s establishment of the “Educational Endowment Fund,” which provides quality education to brilliant students, regardless of their religious background.
“In this regard, I am particularly impressed by the Upper West Regional Chief Imam’s establishment of the Educational Endowment fund,” he stated.

The 2-rakat open-air special prayers session was led by the Wa Central Mosque Chief Imam, Alhaji Ahmed Yahaya, and attended by many including the Yeri-Naa, Alhaji Sualihu Mumuni Sungumo, and the Overlord of the Wala Kingdom, Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV.
