Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has announced that the Accra Sports Stadium will be closed for refurbishment following Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against Chad.
The stadium, which has been a key venue for the Black Stars, will host Friday’s crucial match, but Adams emphasized the need for significant improvements to enhance its condition.
“I think after this game, we have to close the Accra Sports Stadium to refurbish it and bring it up to standard. The stadium has been left in a bad state. We have worked on the pitch, and the coach is satisfied with it. We have also fixed the sanitary areas, dressing rooms, and air-conditioning,” he said on TV3’s Sports Station.
The Black Stars began their training camp in Accra on Monday, March 17, ahead of the Chad game on March 21. Afterward, they will travel to Morocco to face Madagascar on March 24 in another Group I World Cup qualifier.
Nine players took part in the Black Stars’ first training session on Monday ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad on Friday, March 21.
