Ghana Champions Women Entrepreneurship in Electric Mobility on International Women’s Day

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Ghana is highlighting the transformative power of women entrepreneurship, particularly in the green technology sector.

President John Dramani Mahama met with Valerie Labi, co-founder of Wahu Mobility, and Abena Baidoo, the company’s CFO, to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to supporting women-led innovation and driving sustainable economic development.

Wahu Mobility, a pioneering force in Ghana’s electric mobility sector, is manufacturing e-bikes and soon-to-be-launched electric Okadas, paving the way for a greener transportation future. The company has generated over 500 jobs in the past year alone, providing opportunities for delivery personnel, engineers, and other skilled workers.

President Mahama’s commitment to supporting women entrepreneurs aligns with the ‘Accelerate Action’ theme of International Women’s Day. His administration’s proactive measures, including the establishment of the Women’s Development Bank and the endorsement of electric 2-wheelers, are paving the way for a brighter, more inclusive future for women entrepreneurs in Ghana.
