Ghanaians have taken to social media, particularly Facebook, to express their frustration over the Ghana Police Service’s late announcement of road closures for the country’s 68th Independence Day celebrations.
The police issued a notice titled “Temporary Closure of Roads in Accra on the Occasion of the 68th Independence Anniversary Celebration at the Jubilee House, Accra on Thursday, 6th March 2025” on the morning of the event, leaving many commuters unprepared for the disruptions.
Many social media users criticized the short notice, arguing that it caused unnecessary inconvenience and traffic congestion. Some called for better planning and communication from the police in future national events.
The road closures were implemented to facilitate the scaled-down Independence Day event at the Jubilee House, where President John Dramani Mahama and other dignitaries gathered for the celebrations.
