Your Excellency President Mahama,
Your Excellency the Vice President,
Distinguished members of the Council of State,
I want to assure you on behalf of the Council that we will work as a team. We will support you in the governance structure, in the discharge of our constitutional and statutory responsibilities.
It is true many have questioned the relevance of the Council of state as you rightly pointed out. Some have even called for its abolishing, but we want to assure you that this Council will be a Council with a difference.
Fortunately, many members of this council are people I have come across in my public life, distinguished men and women in their own right. More importantly, I have hope in this country and this hope is consistent with your vision of empowering all manner of people irrespective of their backgrounds.
We have 3 young people in the Council, the youngest being 32 years old. This is an indication that even as people call for its abolishing, the youth find interest in it.
Mr President, you can count of us, day and night we shall respond. We are aware that the country is going through challenges. In the discharge of our duties, we shall give you the necessary advice so you can weather the storm. The 11 members you appointed to the Council, we shall not fail you, and Ghana will succeed.
Thank you.
