The Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akwaboa, has assured the youth of employment opportunities and regional development.
The Minister highlighted the region’s vast employment potential but also raised concerns about chieftaincy disputes, illegal mining, and the state of roads.
During a recent maiden media interaction, the Bono Regional Minister, Honorable Joseph Addae Akwaboa, outlined his vision for the region, emphasizing youth employment and development as key priorities.
He expressed confidence in the region’s potential to create jobs, citing agriculture, tourism, and industrialization as major sectors ripe for growth.
“The Bono Region is blessed with immense potential for job creation. From agriculture to tourism, we have the resources to empower our youth and drive development. My administration is committed to unlocking these opportunities to ensure a brighter future for all,” he started.
However, the Minister also acknowledged challenges that could hinder progress. He raised concerns about chieftaincy disputes, which have historically been a source of tension in the region.
He said “Chieftaincy matters remain a concern, but I assure you that peace will be maintained throughout my tenure. We are working closely with traditional leaders and stakeholders to ensure stability and unity.”
In addition to chieftaincy issues, the Minister addressed the poor state of roads and the rampant illegal mining and chainsaw operations plaguing the region. He vowed to tackle these issues head-on to create an enabling environment for development.
“Illegal mining and chainsaw operations are destroying our environment and must be stopped. We are collaborating with security agencies to clamp down on these activities. Similarly, we are working to improve road infrastructure to boost connectivity and economic growth.” He emphasised.
The Minister’s four-year journey to transform the Bono Region into an enviable model of development has just begun. With a focus on youth empowerment, peacebuilding, and infrastructure improvement, stakeholders are hopeful that his vision will yield tangible results.
