Southampton manager Ivan Juric has expressed his satisfaction with winger Kamaldeen Sulemana following the Saints 3-1 loss against fellow South Coast rivals Bournemouth on Saturday.
Sulemana showed quick feet to halve the deficit for the Saints in the second half with an exquisite low drive, scoring his first Premier League goal of the season in the process.
The winger, who has been a shining spark in Southampton’s underwhelming season, was once again the most lively forward as the Saints suffered their 20th defeat of the season.
Having called out Sulemana in recent weeks for dithering in the final third, Southampton coach Ivan Juric was full of praise for the Ghanaian winger, who coincidentally marked his 23rd birthday with his first Premier League goal in two seasons.
“He’s a great guy, great quality. I think he can do really well. Today he scored a great goal, he was dangerous all the match and I’m very happy with him,” he said in his post match interview.
Sulemana has been a ray of hope in the past month for the Saints, scoring a goal and providing an assist in Southampton’s third round FA Cup 3-0 win over Swansea City.
However, the Saints are yet to kick into gear in the ongoing Premier League season, winning just two games, losing 20 and drawing three, placing them in a precarious position (foot of the table).
