In a strongly worded article, former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu has condemned the armed invasion of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s home, calling for an independent investigation into the incident. Amidu argues that the attack, which was captured on CCTV, was a state-sanctioned operation, and he dismisses attempts to downplay it as a staged event.
“The burden is now upon the President of Ghana to admit that he ordered the invasion or prove that it happened without his knowledge,” Amidu asserted.
The raid, which took place on February 11, 2025, was initially dismissed by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) as either “staged” or an “imposter action” aimed at sabotaging an ongoing investigation into corruption allegations against Ofori-Atta.
However, Amidu argues that the CCTV footage contradicts this narrative, exposing what he describes as a blatant abuse of power.
He criticizes both President John Mahama and Parliament for their silence and failure to uphold the rule of law, warning that Ghanaians did not vote for a return to political impunity. Amidu insists that a full and impartial investigation is necessary to uncover who authorized the raid and why.
