Edward Bawa explains reason for his reassignment from GNPC to Goil

Edward Bawa has explained the reasons for his reassignment from the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC)  to Goil.

On Thursday, February 13, he announced that President John Dramani Mahama had reassigned him to head Goil as Group CEO.

The move forms part of the President’s broader energy sector strategy, Mr Bawa wrote on his Facebook page on Thursday, February 13.

“I have been reassigned to GOIL as Group CEO, effective immediately, as part of the President’s broader energy sector strategy,” he said.

His earlier appointment to GNPC took effect on took effect from January 17, 2025.

The letter stated, “His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, in accordance with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 10(2) of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Act, 1983 (P.N.D.C.L. 64), has appointed you as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation pending receipt of the required advice of the Honourable Minister for Energy, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.”
