A tragic road accident in the Bunkprugu Nakpanduri District has claimed the lives of three individuals, leaving another in critical condition.
The incident involved a Toyota Corolla colliding with a tipper truck parked by the roadside. Eyewitnesses described a horrifying scene as flames engulfed both vehicles following the collision.
The accident occurred on the road connecting Nakpanduri and Bimbago when the Toyota Corolla veered off course after striking a bump. Despite the valiant efforts of bystanders to rescue those trapped inside, three individuals were tragically burned beyond recognition. One person was rescued but remains in critical condition, highlighting the severity of this devastating event.
Eyewitnesses have voiced their concerns, stating that a swift response from firefighters could have potentially saved the lives of those who perished in the flames. They blamed the tragic outcome on the fact that Fire Service personnel were not on active duty for several months.
Additionally, one witness suggested that the creation of unnecessary speed ramps along the road contributed to the accident, while another citizen pointed to the improper parking of vehicles at the roadside as a significant factor in the collision.
Furthermore, it has been revealed that two of the victims were students from Bimbago Senior High School, both in their third year. This tragic incident resonates deeply within the community, underscoring the urgent need for improved road safety measures.
The police have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to this heart-wrenching accident.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families and friends affected by this tragedy.
