Two persons are feared dead while several others remain injured in an accident involving three vehicles at Gomoa Otsew on the Apam-Winneba highway in the Central Region.
According to the Apam District Fire Service Commander DOII Anthony Kwesi Rhule, who led a rescue operation, it took firemen a couple of hours to be able to rescue one of the victims who was entrapped in his vehicle.
Sources say a Honda Pilot 4×4 vehicle with registration number DE 3440-13 facing Winneba direction from Apam collided head-on with a sprinter minibus with registration number GW 5064-24, took a spin and landed on a Kia truck registered GW 8308-21, which was fully loaded with pineapples and heading towards Winneba.
DOII Anthony Kwesi Rhule said all the victims have been sent to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba for medical attention.
According to him, preliminary reports gathered at the scene attribute the crash which occurred on Thursday evening, to excessive speeding and a wrongful overtaking on the part of the driver who was in charge of the Honda Pilot vehicle.
