The National Peace Council (NPC) has called for due process and calm amid concerns about the ongoing collation of election results for three Eastern Region constituencies at the Tesano Police Training School in Accra.
The collation exercise, which involves results from Akwatia, Nsawam-Adoagyiri, and Fanteakwa constituencies, has faced significant delays after being relocated twice—first to the Eastern Regional level and then to the national level.
The Electoral Commission (EC) made this decision following reports of disruptions, destruction, and incidents of arson at various collation centres across the country.
Key to the NPC’s concerns is the clarification that the Tesano collation exercise was initiated by the EC itself and not influenced by any political party or the Ghana Police Service.

This reassurance comes as political tensions rise, with various stakeholders expressing concerns about fairness and transparency in the process.
The NPC has urged political party representatives to utilise legal channels to address grievances, emphasising that peace and safety must remain a priority at this critical juncture. The Council also recommends that the EC convene an emergency Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting to foster dialogue and achieve an amicable resolution to the impasse.
In addition, the NPC commended the media for its commitment to transparent reporting on the election process, encouraging continued diligence to keep the public informed.
The Council reaffirmed its dedication to engaging with relevant stakeholders to resolve the matter peacefully and ensure the credibility of the electoral process.
