A member of the legal team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Edudzi Tamakloe has disclosed that the party has secured an interlocutory injunction against the re-collation process of the election results of the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency.
The re-collation process which started on Thursday, December 12 at the Tesano police Depot was postponed to be continued on Friday, December 13, 2024.
The process has become necessary after contention about figures on the pink sheet which do not tally.
However, amidst the process the returning officer for the Electoral Commission in the constituency announced that an interlocutory injunction has been obtained by the EC, hence the process was halted.
Addressing the media shortly after the process was halted, Edudzi Tamakloe noted that the court has set December 20, 2024 to hear the interlocutory injunction.
“We have served the Electoral Commission with an application of interlocutory injunction to prevent the Electoral Commission from doing what they are doing. That process has been served on the EC,” he said.
Meanwhile, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua was not pleased with the latest update on the matter.
“If there’s an injunction as a lawyer know the processes where is the bailiff? At the end of the day is he an officer of the law. So, if there is indeed an injunction the officers here will certainly be called and told so you cannot take a concocted injunction from the NDC,” Justin Frimpong Kodua noted.
