The Ghana Premier League resumes on Friday, December 13, 2024, after a week-long break for the general elections, culminating in the highly anticipated clash between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak on Sunday, at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Hearts of Oak, currently in fine form with four wins in their last five Premier League matches, are determined to break a six-year winless streak in Kumasi.
Their last victory against Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium came on April 29, 2018, courtesy of a Patrick Razak strike.
However, the Phobians have only won one of their last six league encounters with Kotoko since March 2023.
Kotoko, returning to the Baba Yara Stadium after a four-month closure, have been struggling recently, with four losses in their last five games.
Despite this, they boast an unbeaten run against Hearts since the 2020–21 season under coach Dr Prosper Ogum.
Hearts sit sixth on the league table with 19 points, just one point ahead of seventh-placed Kotoko. Both teams will be eager to claim victory to boost their league standing and secure bragging rights.
