Ghana Police Service has commenced investigation into the alleged electoral offence involving some temporary officers of the Electoral Commission and a Member of Parliament during the by-election at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region on April 30,2024.
This is contained in a press release dated May 3, 2024.
“The persons involved, George Sasu, Regina Serwaa and Dr Kingsley Nyarko, have subsequently been invited by the Police to assist the investigation and their statements duly taken,” a portion of the release read.
“Police is working together with the Electoral Commission as the investigation continues,” the release added.
It would be recalled that during the by-election held in the Ejisu Constituency, the NPP MP for Kwadaso, Dr Kingsley Nyarko was captured on camera handing over an envelope to two polling officers.

The Electoral Commission responded immediately with information that the officers involved had been withdrawn. Further investigations, according to the Commission, revealed that the envelope was given to the officers by Dr Nyarko for lunch. The EC therefore referred the matter to the Police for investigation.
