John Antwi will be the main man for Dreams FC as they play Zamalek in the crucial CAF Confederation Cup semi-final second leg in Kumasi on Sunday, April 28.
The 31-year-old has vast experience in the Egyptian league having played 196 times across all competitions in the North African country.
John Joined Ismaily in the latter part of 2012 and went ahead to spend 10 years playing in the Egyptian topflight league including stints with Al Ahly and Pyramid.
He is the current foreign top scorer in the Egyptian League with 77 goals and also won the league title twice with Al Ahly in 2016 and 2017.
The former Sekondi Eleven Wise striker while at Egypt played 15 games against Zamalek with the first one coming in the 2012-2013 season when he was playing for Ismaily SC and the most memorable one in the 2017-2018 season where he scored a brace against them while playing for El Makasa.
John will be having memories of the brace he scored as he faces Zamalek for the 16th time, this time not playing in Egypt but for Dreams FC in Ghana.
Karim Zito will rely heavily on John’s experience against Egyptian teams with the Confederation Cup final in sight.
For John Antwi, the stage means a lot for him and his colleagues and they will give everything to ensure they progress to the final.
“It means a lot looking at the stage of the competition we are now, I mean if we are able to beat them we will go to the final. So it’s really an important game and it means a lot not only to me but the whole team,” he told Connect FM in an interview.
John Antwi is the leading scorer in the ongoing CAF Confederation Cup with 6 goals.
