Six individuals have been apprehended in connection with the fatal shooting of Kaizer Chiefs footballer Luke Fleurs.
The 24-year-old defender met his untimely demise in a car-jacking at a petrol station in Johannesburg last week.
According to statements released by the police, the suspects were taken into custody in Soweto during the early hours of Wednesday.
Authorities believe that these individuals are linked to a syndicate responsible for a string of car hijackings in the Gauteng province.
Despite the arrests, investigations are ongoing, with law enforcement actively pursuing additional suspects involved in the crime.
The recovered vehicle belonging to the late footballer, which had been stripped down, was located by officers on Monday, providing crucial evidence in the case.
Reports indicate that Fleurs was ambushed by unidentified assailants while waiting at the petrol station, who then demanded he exit his vehicle before one of them fatally shot him in the upper body.
