Ghana Rubber Estate Limited (GREL) has handed over another two bedroom semi-detached apartment for use by Nurses at Akyem Breman CHPS compound.
The GH¢700.000 edifice was handed over by the Managing Director of GREL, Thierry Cauchy, to the host chief, Barima Kordie Akese II, who in turn symbolically handed the keys to the District Director of Ghana Health Services, Dr. Adam Ziblim Kasule.
The handing over of the two bedroom semi-detached apartment comes less than two months after GREL handed over a similar apartment to Nurses at the Nsuaem Government hospital.
Three years ago, Nana Kordie Akese II, reached out to GREL with a heartfelt request for residential support for nursing staff posted to the Akyem Breman CHPS compound.
According to the chief, Nurses had been struggling with long daily commutes from Asamankese, which affect their ability to provide timely and effective health care to the community.
Consequently, GREL, which operates in over 90 communities in three regions namely; Western, Eastern and Central regions responded positively by seeing to the eventual completion and handing over of the apartment.
MD Cauchy, whilst handing over the apartment, noted that a significant barrier to healthcare delivery had been removed, following the completion and handing over of the facility.
“It is our sincere hope that this facility will be well utilised, well maintained and that it will improve healthcare outcomes for the people of Akyem Breman for many years to come.
“Let this Nurses’ Quarters stand as a lasting symbol of what is possible when responsible business, strong community leadership and shared vision come together,” he said.
Mr Cauchy informed the chiefs and people of the area that the company’s ability to thrive as a business was directly connected to the strength and harmony of their communities.
“We believe that peaceful coexistence is vital for sustainable development. When companies and communities collaborate in harmony, engaging transparently, resolving challenges together and building trust and development becomes not only achievable, but unavoidable”.
This is why, the MD indicated, “GREL actively promotes strong relationships with local stakeholders. We listen, respond and invest because our growth must be reflected in the development of our host communities”.
The Coordinating Director of Upper Akyem District Assembly, Richmond Antwi, thanked GREL for the magnificent edifice entreating the community and the nurses to take good care of it.
He asked the company to keep investing into the community and other communities in GREL operational areas.
Dr. Ziblim Kasule, District Health Director, used the occasion to introduce the new midwife posted to the facility.
Present at the commissioning included; Perry Acheampong, Corporate Affairs Manager, Peter Chibueze Kofi Atuora, Community Relations Manager/External Communications, John Boafo, Technical Contractor, Nana Kwesi Agyemang, Chairman of ACLANGO and other dignitaries.
