Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has been named the Ghana Premier League Goalkeeper of the Month for September, following an outstanding run of performances that underlined his growing influence between the posts.
The experienced 33-year-old shot-stopper enjoyed a flawless month, keeping three clean sheets in three matches â the best record among all goalkeepers in the league during the period.
His commanding displays helped Hearts of Oak secure two victories and a draw, scoring twice and conceding none throughout September.
Asare’s composure, sharp reflexes and communication with his defence have been central to the Phobians’ solid start to the campaign.
His consistency has also lifted Hearts to fifth place on the Ghana Premier League table after Matchday five, reaffirming the club’s ambitions to challenge for honours this season.
He beat strong competition from Abdul Ganiu of Karela United, Lawrence Osei of Heart of Lions, and Kwame Aziz of Vision FC to claim the award.
Asare’s impressive form has not gone unnoticed beyond the domestic scene, with Black Stars coach Otto Addo identifying him as Ghana’s first-choice goalkeeper.
For his achievement, the Hearts of Oak goalkeeper will receive a special prize package from the Ex-Goalkeepers Union, which includes gloves, a branded towel, water bottles, and a T-shirt.
