Italian forward Mario Balotelli has declared his intention to return to professional football, confirming that he has received offers from clubs in Italy.
The former AC Milan and Inter striker, currently without a club, made the revelation while attending the Trento Sports Festival, insisting that his career is far from over.
Balotelli, born in Palermo to Ghanaian parents before being adopted by an Italian family, has long been one of football’s most mercurial figures.
The 35-year-old has played for several top European clubs, including Manchester City, Liverpool, and Marseille, but has been without a contract since parting ways with Genoa in the summer.
Speaking about his current situation, Balotelli said: “I’m in a bit of a stalemate. I train several times a week on my own, and I’m feeling great physically.
"I’ve had offers from abroad, but I was hoping to find a team in Italy.” He added that he was weighing up whether to accept a deal immediately or wait for the January transfer window.
Despite his absence from competitive football, Balotelli remains focused on a return to the top level and has not ruled out representing Italy again.
“For me, the national team is a fundamental point,” he said. “It’s not an attack on anyone, but many times I see players playing for the national team without that desire to prove themselves, to defend the country’s shirt, and I don’t like it.”
The striker also reflected on his time with the Azzurri, expressing pride in his past contributions.
“When I was in the national team, I was proud to represent Italy, and that’s something I miss,” he admitted. “Was I the last centre forward to play in a World Cup? Yeah, they told me that.”
