Black Stars midfielder Kwasi Sibo has expressed his excitement at playing alongside compatriot Thomas Partey in Ghana’s midfield.
The Real Oviedo star earned his debut call-up for the Black Stars during the Matchday 7 fixtures against Mali, where he shared the pitch with the Villarreal midfielder at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Sibo continued to feature alongside Partey in the decisive matches against the Central African Republic and Comoros, forging a partnership that has drawn praise from both fans and pundits.
Following Ghana’s 1-0 victory over Comoros, which secured the Black Stars’ qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Sibo spoke on the experience of playing with the former Arsenal midfielder.
“He [Thomas] scored and assisted. He is someone I look up to because he is a Ghanaian and plays in Europe,” he said.
“He played for big clubs in Europe and currently plays in Spain, just like me, so we both understand the roles we play in midfield. I am always happy to play alongside him, and I think it's the same for him," he added.
Ghana concluded their qualifying campaign at the top of Group I with 25 points. The Black Stars will discover their group-stage opponents for the 2026 World Cup on December 5 in Washington, DC.
