It's nerve-racking to watch Black Stars matches â?? President John Mahama

The President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has opened up on the difficulties in watching the Black Stars matches. 

The West African football heavyweights restored national pride with a qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament, having missed out on the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament to be held in Morocco in December.

Despite not being a football enthusiast, Mahama insists the Black Stars remains his number football team, saying it’s a bit nerve-racking to watch their games.

“I’m not too much into football but the Black Stars are my number one football team. And so anytime the Black Stars are playing, I’m anxious to see them win. Sometime it’s a bit nerve-racking to watch, especially when the goals are not coming” he told Sporty FM in an interview.

The Black Stars are set for their fifth World Cup participation after finishing on top of Group I in the qualification series.

Ghana secured 25 points to emerge victorious in Group I, followed by Madagascar (19 points), with Mali finishing third spot with 18 points.

Comoros, on the other hand, placed fourth with 15 points, whereas Central African Republic finished fifth on the table with 8 points.

Meanwhile, Chad emerged as the weakest team in Group I, securing just a point in 10 matches.
