Former National Sports Authority Board Chairman Kwadwo Baah Agyemang has called for changes to the Black Stars technical bench despite Otto Addo's successful World Cup qualification campaign, suggesting the current coach isn't equipped to handle top-tier opponents at the global tournament.
Agyemang made the surprising recommendation after Ghana's emphatic 5-0 victory over Central African Republic that left the Black Stars needing just one point from their final qualifier to reach the 2026 World Cup.
"Otto Addo has shamed me. He has changed a lot since the Mali game," Agyemang admitted, acknowledging the coach's improvement. "We will surely be at the World Cup, but Otto Addo can't lead us to face teams like Spain, Italy, Portugal, Brazil and Argentina. He is a qualification expert and he has taken us there, now we should look at the bench again."
The former NSA boss praised Addo's statistical achievements - the coach remains unbeaten in the qualifiers with six wins from seven games and is set to become the first Ghanaian coach to qualify the national team for two World Cups - but questioned his composure and bench demeanor.
Addo continues to face scrutiny despite his qualifying success, with Sports Minister Kofi Adams recently describing him as "lucky" while expressing concerns about his tactical decisions.
