Michael Amer, son of prominent Ghanaian businessman Ibrahim Mahama, has taken a significant step in his football career by signing a two-year deal with French Ligue 2 club USL Dunkerque.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder joins the European side from Nice Ibrahim SC, a Ghana-based club owned by his father.
Amer, who recently represented Ghana’s U-20 national team during their 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations campaign, is set to embark on his first European football journey. His move highlights the growing pathway for young Ghanaian talents seeking opportunities abroad.
The signing marks an important milestone for Amer, who developed his skills at his father’s club before earning national team recognition. His transition to European football follows in the footsteps of many Ghanaian players who have used the French league system as a springboard to professional careers.
USL Dunkerque, who currently compete in France’s second division, will provide Amer with the platform to continue his development in a competitive European environment. The club has previously shown interest in African talents, with former Senegal striker Demba Ba among its co-owners.
