Former Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has congratulated Black Satellites midfielder Amer Michael Mahama on his move to French Ligue 2 club USL Dunkerque.
Ayew sent a heartfelt message to the teenager on Instagram, writing: “Congratulations Young blood. We are all with you⦠the beginning of a long journey.”
Mahama, 19, sealed a two-year contract with Dunkerque after leaving Ghanaian lower-tier side Nice Ibrahim, a club owned by Ibrahim Mahama, the brother of President John Mahama.
The highly rated attacking midfielder is seen as one of the Black Satellites’ brightest prospects and will now look to establish himself in France as he begins his career abroad.
The teenager was reportedly on the radar of several European sides before settling on Dunkerque, a club partly owned by former Chelsea and Senegal striker Demba Ba.
Mahama is expected to start with the development squad while working towards a first-team breakthrough in the coming months.
Dunkerque were held to a 2-2 draw in their latest Ligue 2 fixture on Friday and will be hoping Mahama can provide an extra spark as the season progresses.
