
The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams has backed Asante Kotoko and Bibiani GoldStars ahead of their respective CAF inter club competitions.
GoldStars, who are making their debut appearance in Africa, will host Algerian side JS Kabylie in the first leg of the preliminary round of games in the CAF Champions League later today at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Kotoko will host Nigerian side Kwara United in the Confederation Cup in the preliminary round of games on Sunday at the same venue.
Ahead of the games, the sector minister visited both teams ahead of their respective games and encouraged them to make the country proud.
He also reiterated government’s commitment to supporting Ghanaian clubs through infrastructure, policy, and technical assistance.
“As you represent Ghana, know that the entire nation is behind you,” Adams told the players.
"These matches are bigger than your clubs; they are about Ghana’s pride on the African stage," he added.
To aid preparations, the MP for Buem Constituency donated GH¢10,000 each to the two clubs.
