Ghanaian midfielder Douglas Owusu continues to make headlines in Serbia after officially acquiring Serbian citizenship while making steady progress in his debut top-flight campaign with FK Radnik Surdulica.
The 19-year-old, who joined Radnik from Ghana’s Asekem FC, has already cemented himself as one of the most exciting young talents in Serbian football.
After a remarkable first season in Europe - where he played a pivotal role in Radnik’s promotion push and earned a place in the Serbian Prva Liga Team of the Season - Owusu has now taken his journey a step further by gaining Serbian nationality.
Since the start of the 2025/26 Serbian Super Liga campaign, Owusu has featured in seven league matches, putting in consistent performances that underline his maturity, versatility, and creative influence in midfield.
While he is yet to open his scoring account in the top flight, his intelligent movement, ball progression, and ability to dictate play have drawn praise from both fans and pundits.
Owusu’s dual status could potentially open new doors for his career, including wider opportunities within European football.
For now, however, his focus remains on helping Radnik establish themselves in the Super Liga while continuing his personal growth as one of Ghana’s promising exports.
