Hohoe United head coach Abdul Rahim Bashiru says facing his former club, Hearts of Oak, in the opening fixture of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League will be a special moment in his career.
The newly promoted side will travel to the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday night to take on the Phobians in what promises to be a historic debut in the top flight.
Bashiru, who previously served as both assistant and interim head coach at Hearts of Oak before taking charge at Hohoe United, admitted the encounter carries personal significance.
The former Young Apostles FC boss, however, made it clear his side will not be overawed by the occasion, insisting they will fight for a positive result.
“It is a good feeling [to go back] because Hearts of Oak, I always say I didn’t finish my work with Hearts of Oak, so going into this game means a lot to me and also to my Hohoe people as well so definitely we are going all out against Hearts of Oak,” he told the clubs's media.
Kick-off is set for 19:00 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium, with President John Mahama expected to be in attendance.
